Student Focus Group

Tonight we held a Focus Group at the Department of Youth and Learning Recreation Center.  We had a small turn out - seven students from the Day School and area High Schools - but had a great conversation.  The students defined what they thought success in school meant to them and how best to achieve it.  

Just a few of the big ideas we are able to take away:

• Success comes in more forms than grades or good jobs, including making good life choices (not doing drugs or drinking, for example)
  
• The best classes the students had were ones that were active or where the students felt the teachers genuinely cared about who they were as a person, not just as a student.
  
• When school is fun, it is the best
  
• Students wished they had access to music, art, science, culture and other classes.
