It is the Mission of the Kha’p’o Community School to nurture our children through education that embodies Kha’p’o Owinge culture, language and values that is academically challenging and enjoyable. Working together as a community we enable them to be proficient Tewa and English speakers, support their physical and emotional well-being, encourage their critical thinking and imagination, and inspire their love of learning.
Welcome back to school greeting from director of instruction.........
Dear Kha'p'o Community School Students and Families, I hope this letter finds you well and hope you are enjoying a restful and joyful summer. My name is Richard Apodaca, and I am honored to introduce myself as the new Director of Instruction at Kha'p'o Community School. It is with great excitement that I welcome you back to a new and inspiring school year! Kha'p'o Community School is a place rooted in tradition and culture. We are proud of the strong foundation that has been built by our students, families, educators, and community over the years. As we begin this new chapter together, our focus will be on continuing that legacy of success and building upon it, ensuring that each student grows academically, culturally, and socially in a supportive and enriching environment. This year promises to be filled with meaningful learning, new opportunities, and continued growth. Our dedicated staff is already hard at work preparing classrooms, lessons, and programs that will challenge and inspire every student. Together, we will strengthen our commitment to high-quality instruction, cultural relevance, and student achievement. We will also strengthen our commitment to developing Tewa Language proficiency, which is a vital part of who we are as a school and community. Language is the heart of culture, and we are proud to support our students in learning and living Tewa every day. We encourage and have an expectation of family involvement in educating our students and look forward to partnering with you to provide a great educational experience. Your support and engagement play a crucial role in student success, and we are excited to walk this journey together. Welcome back to Kha'p'o Community School. Let’s make it a year to remember! Warm regards, Richard Apodaca
