What a month! We hope you all enjoyed the long weekend and were able to spend some time with your friends and families.
The first month of school is wrapping up, and it's hard to believe that the holidays are just around the corner. We have been excited about the conversations that this process has inspired, and continue to talk to parents, community members, and school staff about the transition and hopes for the future. We spent some time at the Open House in August to distribute parent letters regarding the transition . If you are interested, you can find that information under the Next Steps page. At this month's Advising Committee meeting we discussed the Meta-curriculum process that was held in August. We also reviewed the P.L. 100-297 Tribally Controlled Grant application, which will be submitted before the end of September. A reminder that our monthly Advising Committee meetings are held the first Tuesday of every month at 6:00 PM in the Department of Youth and Learning offices. Please stop by if you can! We have also been working with the BIE and Pedro Valdez, the SCDS Facilities Manager, to determine any needs that the Tribe should be aware of when the school becomes grant. We greatly appreciate the hard work that Mr. Valdez and the facilities team have put into SCDS, as well as their cooperation and assistance. We are planning several community wide events for September and October, and we will be sure to promote those here on this website and in the community newsletter as well. As always, if you have any questions, comments, or want to sit down and discuss the transition, please let us know on the Contact Us page.
