Update on Meta-Curriculum Session8/10/2015 Last Thursday, a group that included some members of our advising committee, community members, and SCDS staff, completed a "Meta-Curriculum" session with Dr. Greg Cajete of Santa Clara and the University of New Mexico. During this process we had discussions focused around the core values of the community and what that means in regards to curriculum content and learning activities for students.
We are excited to share the process with the community in the coming month. We are planning to receive more input from school staff and have multiple opportunities for community members to add their thoughts as well. We will add a digital version onto our website as well. This is a critical point in the development of a curriculum that is grounded in the community vision. Stay tuned for some important meeting dates that will be finalized after feast!

We released some information as an attachment to the community newsletter this week, as well as posted it near and around the Tribal offices. An update for parents regarding important upcoming dates:
First day of school for staff: August 10 First day of school for students: August 14 Interim principal: Steve Marsh During school year 2015-2016, the Santa Clara Day School will operate as it always has through the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE). School staff are still employed by the BIE and are still expected to provide the same high-quality educational opportunities for SCDS students. As the Santa Clara Day School prepares to transition to tribally controlled status in school year 2016-2017, we know many parents have questions regarding how this will affect their children. We will have a table set up at the Day School on the first day of school to provide information and answer any questions you may have. If you have questions regarding student registration or other immediate student needs, please contact the Day School directly. If you have questions regarding the transition process, our role in the school this upcoming year, or what next year will look like, please reach out to us on our Contact Us page. Archives
