Happy Earth Day! It is with great pleasure and excitement that the Kha’p’o Community School Board (Board) officially announces the hiring of its founding principal. The Board reviewed several applications, conducted interviews, and had considerable discussions and reflections before finalizing its decision.
The Board has selected Michael Dabrieo to lead the Kha’p’o Community School in its founding year. His experience working with the community over the past two years, coupled with his willingness to work in a shared leadership experience with our Board and the school’s leadership team, played a role in our selection process. It is the Board’s intent to develop a leadership team that supports the mentorship and development of key Administrative personnel and we feel confident that Mr. Dabrieo will help ensure this is accomplished.
We plan to continue the hiring process for all other staff over the course of the next three months, and look forward to a successful conversion to becoming a Tribally Controlled Grant school. If you have any questions, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or (505) 692-8807.

What a turn out!
Thank you to all who came to the Community Meeting on Wednesday! More than 50 community members attended! We had some great discussions around effective community engagement and what the children of the Pueblo should be learning in school. There were many questions, and the Board is sorting through them and will have answers soon! We will communicate those here, as well as in the community newsletter.
If you were unable to attend, please reach out to us HERE!
We hope you all had a very happy Easter holiday and a safe entrance into April.
The School Board is excited to announce the new name for the elementary school:

Kha'p'o Community School was the winner from our website, parent, and student surveys by a large margin.
The School Board is also looking forward to holding a Community Meeting at the Santa Clara Day School Gym on Wednesday, April 6 at 6:00 PM. Many questions will be addressed, and we hope many parents and community members will attend.
In addition, there is a special School Board meeting being held on April 5, 2016 at 6:00 PM In the SCDC Annex. The agenda for this meeting will be released shortly.
